Info for Kids![]() Starting school is a very exciting time – making new friends, learning lots and getting better at doing things without help – but it can also be a little scary! What kids think about starting school: "i was worried i wouldn't have any friends, but
I made lots"
"i was scared about the rules and getting into
trouble but there were people to help me"
"getting the plastic off my lunch was the hardest
bit"
To help you feel happy about starting your wonderful new school, talk to as many of your family, friends and pre-school teachers as you can about how you feel and don’t be afraid to ask lots of questions. Maybe you can draw a picture of you having fun at your new school to put on Grandma and Grandpa’s fridge! Have mum and dad drive or walk past the school as often as possible – maybe even pop in and have a look around - and make sure they take you to the school’s transition activities that start in the third or fourth term. Practice sharing and taking turns. Click here
